Chalkboard Accent Wall

Chalkboard walls are still ‘in’, right? RIGHT?? I know, I know, I’m a little late to the party.Chalkboard Accent Wall

I’ve been trying to figure out how to add decor to this little wall FOREVER! It’s right in the doorway that connects my living room and dining room/kitchen and everything I hang up there gets bumped and knocked off. So after a million failed attempts I had the brilliant, totally unique, no-one-has-ever-thought-of-this-before, idea to create a chalkboard accent wall. Now, I can change it up as often as I want and the worst that can happen is it gets a little smudged.

Here it is before…

First, I sanded and cleaned the wall and taped it off. My corners are rounded so I had to bribe my husband to draw a straight line for me. That kind of precision is not one of my strengths.

Once the paint is completely dry (the can says 3 days) you need to prep the chalkboard surface. All you do is rub the side of a piece of chalk over the whole thing and then wipe it off.

My wall is slightly textured, which some people frown upon when it comes to chalkboards, but I do what I want 😉 and I think it looks just fine!

I seriously love it SO much! I can’t wait to get some fun chalk markers and practice my lettering! Next up… Refinishing the oak part of my banister. What do you think, black or a darker stain??
